cool vids.

I used to drive by March AFB all the time when I was a kid, and more often than not id get see some F-16's landing, or taking off. They closed a bunch of bases in the last decade or so, and for some reason I thought March was one of the bases that got closed. I am glad to see that is not the case.

I have seen with my own eyes F-16s deploy drogue chutes upon landing at that base. I have seen it with my own eyes. I only mention that because some guy argued with me one day that the f-16 is not equipped with a drogue chute............

Nice! Yes the F-16AM (MLU or Mid-Life-Upgrade) F-16's you find in Europe are equipped with the drag chutes, that's why the have an elongated vertical stab base. The Royal Norwegian Air Force was the first air force to incorporate the drag chute, mainly to shorten the landing run on icy runways during long and cold winters. It is barely used except for emergency situations and high GW landings.

Yeah the highway/freeway that runs past March AFB runs right along the runway there. I mean its really really close. If you check out that video of the patriots flying at march, you can clearly see the highway/freeway im talking about, it literally runs right along with the runway. Its close enough in fact, that you can make out quite a bit of detail on the jets.

The F-16's I saw clearly had United States Air Force written on them, and the parachutes they deployed were significantly smaller than the one seen in the photo in your previous post. I mean they were these tiny little parachutes.........

I suppose it's possible that some foreign military was getting some training in F-16's and that's what I saw, but the jets themselves were USAF.

I really don't know.

Oh well..........
